Overview

NVivo Transcription is an automated transcription service using cutting-edge machine-learning technology to produce transcripts of audio and video files. It can be used independently, from the NVivo Transcription Web Service (Workflow), or from NVivo, automatically returning transcripts correctly associated with the media files they were created from (Transcribing from NVivo).

NVivo Transcription can transcribe from 43 languages Supported languages. It includes a 'dictionary' for you to provide transcriptions for words, phrases or acronyms that you want spelled or formatted a particular way, or that are unlikely to be recognized by the transcription software Dictionary.

Once a transcript is produced you can edit it—using simultaneous audio playback—to tag speakers and make corrections Editing page. The better the sound quality of the media files that you upload the more accurate the transcriptions, minimizing the amount of editing you need to do Tips for good audio quality.

• Transcripts are typically ready in half the time of a media file's duration, e.g. a 10-minute file takes around 5 minutes to transcribe.

NOTE  Uploaded media files are removed from the web site 90 days after you transcribe them or after the last edit of their transcripts. Transcripts are stored indefinitely (while your account remains valid) File deletion.
